Dollar Tree really said “we’re not a bank” and slapped

Dollar Tree really said “we’re not a bank” and slapped this sign on the register like customers are committing crimes for using cash.

I’m sorry but WHY is it always a problem when someone pays with a $50 or $100?? It’s CASH. Real U.S. currency. Not Monopoly money. I’m not asking you to open a vault, I’m buying snacks. And isn’t cash literally supposed to be legal tender?? Like I’ve always heard stores aren’t supposed to refuse U.S. currency, so why does it feel like I’m being scolded for using the money I was given?

Now there’s warnings about fake bills too, written like a threat. I get being careful, but the tone is crazy. You walk up already feeling accused before you even pull your wallet out. Not everyone carries exact change. Not everyone uses cards. Some people get paid in cash. But somehow the customer always ends up feeling like the inconvenience.

It’s Dollar Tree, not Fort Knox. If taking cash is this irritating, just say that. Don’t treat people like they’re doing something wrong for paying with actual money. Being made to feel shady for using cash is getting old real fast.
