Management at my job decided it was completely fine to have random mystery boxes show up with parts we don’t even use, and instead of fixing it, they taped a note on it basically telling us to ignore it and not log anything. They straight up admitted they’re paying for storage and don’t know where the stuff is coming from, but still told us to just “take it” and keep quiet.
I opened one anyway and started matching the parts to orders in the system just to see how bad it was. Turns out none of it lines up with anything we’ve ever shipped or received, and there’s no paperwork tied to it at all. It’s just random inventory showing up out of nowhere that they don’t want tracked.
So I logged every single piece into the system under a new category and attached photos of the box with their note clearly visible. Then I sent it up the chain so it’s officially documented.
They pulled me into the office the next day asking why I’d “go against instructions,” and I just pointed at their own handwritten note sitting in the system records.
