DIY Faux Succulent Lotus
Materials
150 natural pistachio shells
1 plain white styrofoam ball, approximately 4 inches in diameter
Hot glue gun with glue sticks
Acrylic paint in shades of green and beige (optional)
Paintbrush (optional)
Directions
Start by sorting the pistachio shells into similar sizes for a uniform look.
Heat up your hot glue gun and prepare the styrofoam ball.
Begin gluing the pistachio shells onto the styrofoam ball. Start at the top center and work your way outward in circular layers, overlapping the shells slightly to mimic the petals of a lotus.
Continue adding shells until the entire ball is covered, leaving no gaps.
If desired, lightly brush the tips of the shells with acrylic paint to add a subtle green or beige hue, enhancing the succulent effect.
Allow the glue and any paint to dry completely before displaying the piece.
Variations & Tips
For a more vibrant look, you can paint the pistachio shells in various shades of green before gluing them onto the styrofoam ball. Another variation is to use a larger styrofoam ball for a more dramatic effect. Consider using gold or metallic paint on the tips of the shells for an elegant touch. You could also mix in other types of shells or small beads to add texture and contrast.
