I walked past my neighbor’s mailbox and she’s got it dressed up with a whole note telling delivery drivers to knock if they want coffee or cocoa like this is some kind of drive-thru.
It literally says it’s cold out and she’s offering drinks, and I’m just standing there thinking since when did dropping off packages turn into a full service stop?? These are grown adults on a route, not guests coming over to hang out. Now you’ve got a bell, a message, and an open invitation slowing everything down because someone wants to feel helpful for five minutes.
And I’m not even gonna lie, I rang it myself just to see if she was serious. She actually came out smiling with a mug like this is a routine. I took it, said thanks, and walked off because if we’re doing extras, I’m not about to be the only one not benefiting from it.
Now she’s probably thinking she’s doing something amazing while I’m looking at it like this is exactly how people start expecting special treatment for basic jobs
