I just broke up with my ex and then I saw this skyscraper in Downtown Los Angeles with a different name spray-painted on every single floor. One building. Dozens of names stacked from bottom to top like a public record of chaos. And I just stood there staring at it thinking this is exactly what dating feels like right now.
Every level has someone else’s tag stamped on it like they passed through and left proof. No shame. No subtlety. Just name after name climbing higher and higher. It’s not art. It’s a scoreboard. And somehow it felt personal seeing that tower right after ending a relationship I spent years defending.
So I took a picture and sent it to him with no caption. Just this building full of names rising into the sky. If that doesn’t explain why I walked away, nothing will.
